mother hands examines the relationship between labor, care, and visibility. Sand-filled gloves serve as stand-ins for working hands, their weight suggesting effort, repetition, endurance, and the physical realities of caregiving and domestic labor. Encased within feminine gloves, the hands become both protected and concealed, raising questions about what forms of work are recognized and what remains hidden from view. Drawings and collaged imagery drawn from vintage toys, recipes, household materials, and work sleeves create a visual landscape shaped by cultural expectations surrounding motherhood, femininity, and family life. These materials carry histories of labor and care while also reflecting idealized representations of domesticity. Throughout the series, tension exists between appearance and experience. The gloves present a polished exterior while obscuring the weight they contain – calloused hands.
