toy stitchers began unexpectedly. While preparing to photograph art history books for dissertation research, I found myself distracted by my sketchbook and a bag of my children’s toys I happened to bring into the studio. The planned documentation gave way to playful experimentation, and these photographs emerged instead. The series marks the first time I introduced sewing directly into my photographic work. The stitched threads extend well beyond the edges of the framed photographs, allowing the images to physically grow into the surrounding space. Drawings escape the pages of a sketchbook, thread reaches beyond the frame, and the work itself refuses to remain contained. It celebrates curiosity, play, and the ways creative work, like childhood, continually exceeds the boundaries we try to place around it.
