shadowthread.echo explores vulnerability, connection, and the expectations placed upon women across generations. Created as my first editioned print project following years devoted primarily to motherhood, caregiving, and professorship, the series reflects on the process of reclaiming a creative voice while carrying the experiences that shaped it. The naked figures appears as symbols of openness, exposure, beauty and strength. Surrounding forms suggest both support and constraint, referencing the visible and invisible structures that influence women’s lives. The picket fence points to idealized notions of home, family, and success, while the chain evokes the expectations imposed by society and those we internalize ourselves. Rain recalls the freedom, curiosity, and wonder of childhood, offering a counterpoint to obligation and responsibility. The work recognizes the challenges of womanhood and motherhood while also honoring the resilience, companionship, and shared strength found among women. shadowthread.echo considers the threads that bind us together, the echoes of past expectations, and the possibility of imagining something beyond them.
