at8 emerged from a feverish walk to a neighborhood pharmacy, when illness blurred the boundaries between observation, imagination, and memory. Carrying two small sock monkeys, I photographed them throughout the neighborhood, balancing them on walls, suspending them from fences, and photographing their encounters until an unexpected love story unfolded. Once I was better, the experience felt fragmented and dreamlike. The deconstructed artist book reflects that sensation, presenting photographs, mirrors, and layered imagery as pieces of a memory that resists a single narrative – the shifting reflections and interrupted sequences echoing the process of recalling an experience that is both vivid and uncertain. On the pedestal, the book becomes a preserved artifact, the blue astroturf recalling the strange sensation of walking through the neighborhood floating just above the ground.
