agua minerale frizzante was inspired by time spent on the island of Burano while working in Venice as a teaching assistant to master printmakers Clare Romano and John Ross, authors of The Complete Printmaker. Known for its vividly painted houses, Burano is an example of how color can shape both daily life and collective identity. Local tradition holds that fisherfamilies painted their homes in bright colors so they could identify them from a distance while returning from the water. The vibrant streets transformed the island itself into a place of visual delight for the families who remained behind. The work reflects on the idea that color can serve both practical and emotional purposes, functioning as a marker of home, connection, anticipation, and joy. The relationships between color, architecture, and repetition are explored through a structured visual language inspired in part by the work of Sol LeWitt.
