trak show series explores movement toward uncertain destinations. Centered on images of an airplane and a hippo pursuing an ever-distant carrot, the work reflects the tension between aspiration, fear, persistence, and the promises that keep us moving forward. Collaged recipes, developmental illustrations, and fragments of childhood imagery weave domestic life into these larger metaphors. Rather than separating creative practice from family life, the paintings embrace their overlap, allowing everyday experiences to shape the work both materially and conceptually. Created in collaboration with my young son, whose painted marks remain part of the finished surfaces, trak show preserves a moment when parenting and artmaking were inseparable. The paintings acknowledge that progress is rarely linear. It is built through shared experiences, uncertainty, and the small acts of making that accompany everyday life.
